..................................................born somewhere into your time
Shally Brady was born into a US Military couple on the island of Oahu but grew up with two younger siblings in the mud of the Rio Grande near the bordertown of Nuevo Progresso. The art business was always an integral part in the life of Shally Brady and extruded into her career endeavors. At an early surly age she was known to sell sultry drawings of various "Virgen" for paltry quarters around the hot playgrounds of SFA Elementary. She also bartered chalk scenics inside the classroom for excused assignments on the same dusty campus. At Jr. High, she produced and sold a large number of ceremonial mask-heads made of paper, glue, and paint to the local curanderas. High School employment demanded more of her as she completed her first comic book commissioned by the San Jacinto Girl Scout Group to be used for Summer Camp Recruiting and Orientation Department. Astral projection, a college job requiring illustration of primarily literary classics, and a bicycle Taco Delivery service got her through the lean years at Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas, where she earned her BFA.
After a short hiatus to the beautiful and unfathomable Mexico, and a quick dip into the world of political cartooning, she once again found employment in the bordertown of La Joya. There her world centered around art, candle-making, chancla-making, and tractor exchange business at the Rio Grande which was dry at that true time and point and place.
When the block moved south, she subsequently relocated to the grand mecca of H-Town where she soon thereafter met her beautiful daughter Brittany & feckless son Stevie. Some H-Town projects feeling her art through Mike Frost's Slf-Mployd, have been some spin art for Paul wall and KJ's friend, the Chamillionaire.
She has been known to take surfing excursions up and down the Gulf Coast and as far south as Sayulita, MX. It was rumored she was rolling with the brothers of BJJ for a short period and currently living somewhere between Maryland, DC, and San Antonio, Texas.... though her art has been sighted as recently as June 19th @ ART INC., the Fiesta pick-up point on San Pedro. Go figure.
